This Merchant Ivory production won 3 Oscars. Including one for Emma Thompson. It is a lush production and well acted by all. It is interesting to see Samuel West at the beginning of his career and his mother Prunella Scales also in this…

Somehow I never got around to seeing this until now! I found the story a little hard to get into at first but then once we hit a pivotal plot point it all started coming together, as you see how the different story lines interweave. Emma…

Directed by James Ivory in 1992 based on the 1910 novel of the same name by E. M. Forster, this British romantic drama delves into the class relations in turn-of-the-20th-century Britain. As the third adaptation of the Forster novel…

The film closely mirrors the book and includes several documentary features, including filming and costuming "of the times".

Rated 2/10. I found this to be quite boring - overloaded with useless dialogue.

Classic movie adaptation of a classic book. The British always do these so well. A must for college students (or college bound teens) who don't have time to read the book but want to be thought literate.

Not bad at all. Well scripted and interesting to follow. An excellent cast choice. I found the ending a little weak compared to the rest of the film.

After hearing novelist Ruth Prawer Jhabvala talking about the creation of this Forster film (she wrote the screenplay), I decided to have a go. I'd watched on its original theatre release (1992), but thought -- I could do worse than spend…

I'm a huge fan of Merchant/Ivory productions. They always are so faithful to the original book- and there is noone who brings the Edwardian life to the screen any better!

Howard's End is not an easy movie to sit through if you do not typically watch period films. The language and euphemisms are very old fashioned. But if you really sit back and watch the story unfold you will surely enjoy this film.
