I was a bit worried about the change in format from 2-part episodes to an over-arching 6-part mystery, but the twists and turns kept it very interesting and so my worrying was for nothing. The storyline with Tosh was handled and portrayed…

Shetland is great for binge watching. Lots of twists and turns and dead ends in the investigation, so binge watching probably helps follow the thread. Good acting, good story line.

"Shetland" -- I enjoyed seasons 1 & 2 but was disappointed to see that the format was extended in season 3 into one 6-episode story -- that is way too long for me -- too much extraneous detail. So sad -- good-bye Shetland.

I've seen two of the other programs but frankly this one from Season three disappointed me. It is all over the place with no real direction. I spent almost six hours wanting to feel the sense of coordination: Didn't get it.
Kudos to the writers for this season for how they delivered on the brutal subplot involving character Alison "Tosh" McIntosh. They obviously did their research so the subject matter was handled incredibly well - with sensitivity, care and…

I preferred the shorter stories in Season 1 and 2, because you can watch an episode in one evening and you're done. With season 3 the story is just drawn out for 6 episodes . I must say I never clued in who was the guilty party and…

So far out of the first four seasons I found this one to be the best. I have found myself enjoying this cops series and I find it to be refreshing. Good thing Shetland has a fairy boat to the island as so far in the first fours series…

Very good. Even better than Series 1 and 2 which I liked a great deal. The switch to 6 episodes for one main story works really well. As usual the actors are wonderful and the scenery beautiful. Highly recommend.
My wife and I totally enjoyed all three Seasons of this excellent TV series from the BBC. Very much looking forward to seeing Season 4 now. Also heard that they are planning to do Season 5. With the same cast and script quality this…

For some unknown reason to me, I just felt mediocre with this. Love the scenery, the local lore, the decent mystery aspect and some of the actors. Since I've not seen the first or second season I can't comment on the local slang, it…

I really enjoyed this 6-part mystery series. Characters are better developed and more realistic than in most detective shows. A few other reviewers questioned whether Scottish or Shetland accents should be played up or down. I imagine…

I wonder how many people complained--because season three really toned down the accents and stopped using slang that only those from Scotland would know! I really enjoy the series, and don't mind "rewinding" to figure our what they said.…

So so good !!! Best watched with a friend, though, since plot and character development became complicated and difficult to follow at times.
Kept us on the edges of our seat to the point where we had to watch all six episodes in rapid…
always amusing when someone who spent 8 minutes in another country tries to be an expert on language, law & customs of that country. or when such folk confuse a dramatic tv series with a documentary. shouldn't the range of accents…

Excellent all the way. Tense, delicate even if the events are horrific. A good example how to create intense moments without illustration of graphic details.

A good set of DVDs with the beauty of the Shetland Islands as a backdrop. The mystery in this series lasts through all season, and the conclusion was disappointing, using the old traditional conceit of withholding information.
