The first volume of the Adventures of Tintin 3-in-1 collections features the stories: Tintin in America, Cigars of the Pharoahs and The Blue Lotus. This does not collect the first two Tintin stories: Tintin in the Land of the Soviets and Tintin in the Congo, which are very rare.
The first story in this volume: Tintin in America, vaguely carries on from Tintin in the Congo through a single line from Al Capone at the start. Otherwise, it's a set of semi-random events that just seem to flow into each other. Still good, but there are better stories out there.
The next two stories form a single two-part adventure. Cigars of the Pharoahs sees Tintin and Snowy on vacation before becoming involved in a plot to do with opium smugglers that takes them from Egypt to India. The Blue Lotus follows on with the drug smugglers eliminated except for their mysterious leader. Tintin heads to China where he gets caught up in the events leading toward World War II. Both stories are well written, well researched and very entertaining. A must read for fans of good adventure stories.

' Explorers on the Moon ' and ' Destination Moon ' are two of the best Tintin stories.

The Adventures of Tintin Volume 1 contains the first 2 TinTin Stories.
Land of the Soviets and Tintin in the Congo.
Like most Kids of the 70s Tin Tin was the greatest. That being said.
There is a reason the first 2 stories took a long time to be released.
These were not released in English till just recently.
Land of the Soviets is only B/W and contains none of the crisp clean art TinTin is known for.
The Story is all over the place.
Tintin in the Congo is a racist and animal cruelty shmorgishborg.
TinTin going on the hunt to kill an elephant for the tusks.
Natives treated as imbeciles, Worship Statues of TinTin and Snowy for there White like powers.

These Stories are a product of there time and would never been published today for kids.
If you want your Kids to Experience the magic of TinTin go to Volume 2, If your older and want to experience a historical TinTin this is for you.

This description is wrong. This description is for Volume 7 of the Tintin series. Volume 4 of the Tintin series actually contains: Red Rackham's Treasure, The Seven Crystal Balls, and Prisoners of the Sun.
