Line of Vision opens with the urgent voice of Marty Kalish, a young man suffocating in the heat of an affair with a married woman. When the woman's husband disappears one night - after, she says, a stranger has broken into their home, shot her husband, and left with the bleeding man in tow - Marty is one of the first to be questioned. With few likely suspects, the police arrest him for murder. We know Marty was outside their home that night. We know he has a motive. We know he's guilty of something. But is it murder? Everything we know - about Marty as a man, his obsessive affair, and the night in question - comes from Marty himself. We believe what he tells us and want him to be innocent, but the more he reveals, the more we fear he may indeed be guilty. And as the twists and turns of the plot are revealed, we can't be completely sure who Marty really is and what he's capable of - until we've read the very last page. --
