My favourite murder mystery. It has everything: brilliant plot, captivating characters, witty dialogue, wicked humour, hot sex and a minimum of violence. I'll keep watching it as long as the library offers it.

Still a very clever film even after all these years. Maddie Walker is young and beautiful and married to a very wealthy man. Ned Racine is a slimy lawyer who takes the disreputable cases no one wants. She reels him in easily and sets him up even easier. Pay attention to the names. They come into play at the very end. If you like this one, you'll probably like Wild Things with Neve Campbell, an updated variation on the same theme.

When I first saw this on cable in 1981 I was wowed and watched it as often and whenever HBO aired it, no matter when. Love the soundtrack which blends so well with the drama and the characters. Most of the actors/actresses were from soaps at the time except Crenna who potrays a guy we would all dislike from the moment we met him. Excellent movie, the casting is great and effects are simple but then the whole movie is just straight up and believable. Love the way they all smoke, like in the 40's and they endure the heat which today would have everyone running for the AC. I visited Lake Worth in 1990 where it was filmed but could not find much that looked familiar in the short time I had. I would watch this every year and never be bored as it endures while other movies date themselves this one captivates forever. Way underrated.

Classic film noirs often have a pair of illicit lovers with one of them convincing the other to bump off an unwanted spouse. The crime always has a loose end somewhere and the illicit lovers find the road a little more bumpy than they had planned for. One problem is that, once they commit the crime, they are inextricably linked, but they are always going to be suspicious of the other’s motives, as one really cannot trust a cold-blooded killer. In my opinion, this film is just below Chinatown on the list of greatest modern film noir. It is amazing that this is the debut feature films for actress Kathleen Turner and director Lawrence Kasden.

Minus being dated both visually as well as predictable plot, this movie is pretty good. It says a lot of our society as to how easily the charade is seen now a days. When it was made i believe the ending was a great shock and surprise. I see why it's a classic and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good film.

A very decent throwback neo-noir with William Hurt as an everyman/shlump blinded to reality by femme fatale Kathleen Turner's pheromones, as well as some of her other magical charms...

Quite entertaining though the ending has quite a number of loose ends.

This movie is so hot and teasing that it should win awards. I can always watch this movie and never get sick of it. The 2 actors make this movie what it is. WOW. Have fun watching this movie.
