Amanda McCready is a 4-year-old who has disappeared from her Boston home. The police make little headway in solving the case, so the girl's aunt hires Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro, private detectives. They freely admit that they have little experience with this type of case, but the family wants them for two reasons: they're not cops and they know the tough neighborhood in which they all live. As the case progresses, Patrick and Angie must face area drug dealers, gangs and pedophiles. When they finally solve the case, they are faced with a moral dilemma that tears them apart.

A decent feel-bad film ruined by some truly twisted moralizing. A sense of moral relativism -- morality is determined by circumstance not absolutes -- would have gone a long way to making the ending more palatable. As it was it was preposterous and more than a little repulsive.

This was a really good movie. I had never heard of it so I was pleasantly surprised.

Very intricate story line. Very good acting by Casey Affleck. Thank goodness for rewind on the DVD. There are subtle statements/scenes which I had to go back to in order to follow or clarify what was said or done. A very well done 'who done it'. Intricate plot lines that intertwine as the real story slowly unfolds. An ending with an unexpected twist.

Can't recommend "Gone Baby Gone" more than the other KCLS patrons already have stated. The surprising story a real kidnapping of a 4 year old young girl in Boston. The family tries to work through both the police and private detectives. The film is suspenseful throughout and the ending will certainly surprise you!

Let me say right off the bat that Gone Baby Gone has an intricate plot. If you don't have the intelligence to follow anything more than a 30 minute sitcom, then stay away from this movie. It's set in a tough, gritty section of Boston, highlighting all the negatives that reside there, so if you are repulsed by raw language and questionable morals, then this movie is not for you. For the rest of you, this is a pretty good movie.

Yes, Casey Affleck has that same kind of half-asleep acting quality as his brother Ben, but it's the plot that drives this movie. The first hour centers on the rescue of a missing daughter of a local drug addict, wonderfully played by Amy Ryan (Holy, of The Office). The next half hour develops around another missing boy. The final half hour wraps everything up. Will you agree with the outcome? That's the big question surrounding the movie: morals- when different people have different morals and all are good, who's morals should outweigh the others?

I am so disappointed! The description for this movie sounded like it had all the elements for a great movie. Unfortunately even though it had a premium cast, and a good plot, it just didn't develop. The violence and gory graphics seemed to be presented like a gift to the viewer to make up for having no substance, and even that was poorly done.

mush mouths - missed half the dialog - Casey Affleck is about as effective as a sweat sock - filthy language - don't waste your time
