Absolutely lovely illustrations and informative text. Kids will love learning what each butterfly is called.

This book shows the growing process of a butterfly starting with an egg, turning into a caterpillar, growing a protective covering called chrysalis where it grows wings. This is called metamorphosis. It explains what butterflies eat and do. How they protect themselves and where they fly to in the winter. This book has beautiful pictures of over 30 different kinds of butterflies. Other books by this author include A seed is sleepy and An egg is quiet.

Beautiful and exquisite book that kids can really savour and enjoy. Fantastic illustrations that both my 3 year old and 6 year old found fascinating.
