"Moo U" is a large, Midwestern "ag and tech" school where campus politics and intrigue rule. Smiley has assembled a large, colorful group of characters who will be familiar to ivory tower dwellers: the campus secretary who controls personnel and paper flow, the faculty who plot for power and revenge, plus the dining hall worker, the students, and the administrators, all with their own agendas.

An amusing and ironic romp by the award winning author of A Thousand Acres. The reader is shown the foibles and fables of a mid-western university by a writer who has a wicked and witty eye for words.

I'm shocked that "Moo" didn't receive higher ratings. I received it as a gift when it was first published. Don't remember any book that made me laugh so hard. Of course, I was an associate professor in a VERY political and hostile department in Neb. at the time. And I have a very black sense of humor. I highly recommend this painfully accurate view of academic life to anyone who fits either description.
