An excellent selection of short stories by the prolific American sci-fi writer Robert Sheckley, who added a distinctive, dark humor to the genre, which is still influential today. Selected and introduced by Alex Abramovich and Jonathan Lethem, these stories have something in common with Philip K. Dick (There's even one about preventing future crimes, a la "Minority Report.) and Kurt Vonnegut, Sheckley doesn't share Vonnegut's wounded humanism. If you're a fan of the genre (Frak, even if you're not.), this is a great find by "Science fiction's premier gadfly." (Kingsley Amis)
