Warning: This Video does not have CC or SUBTITLE options. I like the series but British accents can be hard to understand . The CC helps a lot and I am disappointed this series does not have it.

I enjoyed this until the end. The end was indeed a turnoff.

Have enjoyed watching this Edwardian period drama many times and believe it does a good job of portraying the people and their times. It was cancelled by BBC because it was aired during the time of the World Soccer tournament, so it wasn't getting the number of viewers' attention that it needed to have a second season.
I especially love the children, and how the series shows how the life of a upper class child was not always as happy as people think it was, but restrained and not the affection they needed from their parents, so they got it from their nannies and nurses. In no way do I find it as dated, as another commenter said, but more true to the social standards of the time that we need to see more of on period dramas these days ie. Downtown Abbey, which doesn't show these enough.

Good grief! After reading the comments here I was eager to see this "warm-hearted family drama" (as it says on the cover), but I couldn't get past the first episode. More accurate would be "depressing, mean-spirited and relentlessly grim"! This is NOTHING like "Upstairs/Downstairs" and if you're looking for light-hearted Edwardian entertainment you'll be very unpleasantly shocked at the unrelentingly depressing goings-on in this 1990s British series. This is an all-too realistic portrayal of the bitter unfairness of class-distinction and mistreatment of women in Edwardian England, and is completely depressing to watch. I can only hope things pick up for the poor protagonists in subsequent episodes but I'll never know, since I couldn't bring myself to watch but one episode. To call this family entertainment or warm-hearted is completely misleading. I'll take "Downton Abbey" any day!

Very good indeed. Great acting and showed what a nanny and servants life was like in the turn of the century.
