I suspect the National Geographic was paid by the Pentagon to produce this piece of propaganda, which interviews US soldiers having fun shooting turbans but provides absolutely no insight into the genesis of the Afghan conflict or its implications.

National Geographic generally has a good reputation- at least for the moment- for good documentary work. This one looks at the Afghanistan war, mixing together combat footage with interviews from soldiers and others in the field. It wisely gives us a boots on the ground perspective that we wouldn't otherwise see, exploring the context of the war and the dilemmas still facing the allies today.
