I liked this non-fiction movie. It is too violent for children. It is not believable. It presents the main character as tough and independent. It is not convincing. It moves at a medium pace. It held my interest enough. The story is semi-strong. The script was well written.

Haheehhhaaaa I usually don't read the comments, let alone add a comment but the last comment gave me a laugh for the day!

As the previous comment stated; I too had a copy but it was destroyed by a pair of wayward gypsies and their racoon who entered my room through the window, whilst I was preparing pop tarts. What a coincidence...

I loved every single minute of it I had a copy of my own but it got destroyed at my old house because of my sisters ex boyfriend and her moving into my room. FIVE STARS!

I really enjoyed Tom Cruise in this film, even if he didn't fit the description of the character in the novel. (I'm not familiar with the novels.) This is really fun, and full of surprises. When the film ended, I felt completely entertained.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. I understand that Tom Cruise does not fit the physical description of the character in the books but I think he still plays Jack Reacher pretty well.

I've read all the books and I think Tom Cruise nails the Jack Reacher character. Ok so he isn't built like the character in the book. That's not important in a movie. Not all SEALS or Rangers are huge men but I still wouldn't want to tangle with them. This movie was based on one of my favorite books in the series. Lee Child makes a cameo appearance. What's not to like? I recommend it.

I must first admit that I did not take the time to read all the comments before writing my own. I am also a reader of the Jack Reacher novels and at first did not understand why Tom Cruise was chosen for the title role. He does not have the characteristics of the character from the books. Then I realized, from reading the movie credits, that Tom Cruise is the first producer listed and his own production company produced the movie! So basically Tom Cruise placed himself in the title role.
These things considered the movie was actually better than I would have expected. I think Dwayne Johnson would have made a better Jack Reacher.

Would have been a better film if cast better--sorry, Tom Cruise is NOT Jack Reacher, at least he isn't if you know and love the novels.
Seriously, did no one think to call Chris Hemsworth?

If your a fellow Reacher Creature, you've probably been part of the conversation about the movie-makers going against-type and selecting Tom Cruise to play Jack. That being said, its still an entertaining movie!

Jack Reacher: Look out the window. Tell me what you see. You see the same things that you see everyday. Well, imagine you've never seen it. Imagine you spent your whole life in other parts of the world, being told everyday that you're defending freedom. Then you finally decide you've had enough. Time to see what you've given up your whole life for, everything. Get some of that "freedom" for yourself. Look at the people. You tell me which ones are free. Free from debt. Anxiety. Stress. Fear. Failure. Indignity. Betrayal. How many wish that they were born knowing what they know now? Ask yourself how many would do things the same way over again, and how many would live their lives like me.

Jack Reacher: You think I'm a hero? I am not a hero. I'm a drifter with nothing to lose. Now you killed that girl to put me in a frame. I mean to beat you to death and drink your blood from a boot! Now this is how it's gonna work. You're gonna give me the address and I'll be along when I'm damn good and ready. If she doesn't answer the phone when I call this number, if I even think you've hurt her, I disappear. And if you're smart, that scares you. Because I'm in your blind spot. And I have nothing better to do.

Jack Reacher: There're three things cops never do: they don't vote Democrat, they don't drive Cadillacs, and they never use personal vehicles.---Jack Reacher: There are four types of people who join the military. For some, it's family trade. Others are patriots, eager to serve. Next you have those who just need a job. Than there's the kind who want the legal means of killing other people.---James Barr (on JR): There's this guy. He's a kind of cop, at least he used to be. He doesn't care about proof, he doesn't care about the law, he only cares about what's right. He knows what I did. You can't protect me. No one can.
