wasn't this one the last go-around for Donald Pleasance? He don't get no respect, although I am convinced his character is crucial to the gestalt of the piece. The Rob Zombie remake lacked sizzle, mainly because the doctor character was played by Malcolm McDowell (normally an actor I enjoy watching perform).

Of course Halloween II isn't as good as the original. No slasher movie is. But as far as sequels go, H2 is great. If the franchise had ended here, it would have gone out on the highest possible note.

I actually have this dvd. I like the orignal HALLOWEEN II better. I think Jamie Lee Curtis
did the acting better then Scout
Taylor Compton. Over all Jamie
Lee Curtis is a much better

This isn't a bad film, but it cannot possibly compete with the vastly superior and more influential original. John Carpenter did not direct, but was involved as producer, writer, and composer. It does pick up right where the first ended, with Michael Myers surviving being shot and roaming the small town for new victims. Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasence reprise their roles. "Halloween" basically set the template for a decade of slasher films, but it was constructed more like a thriller, favoring mood and suspense over gore. This one is a bloodier and less atmospheric, but still enjoyable. Followed by, like, 8 sequels/remakes/etc. Fun fact: the mask Michael Myers wears is a William Shatner mask painted white.

The greatest thing about this film is it literally picks up where the first one ends. If you like the original you will love this one as well. It continues the story in a cohesive and intelligent way. Needless to say i love it!
