The more I know about Churchill, the more I want to know. That includes his wife, Clementine and American mother, Jenny. This film was very dated and, yet, VERY well done and interesting. After seeing both movies, Churchill AND The Darkest Hour, the story of Young Churchill fits right in...a man who didn't experience an easy life, either personally or professionally. How this brilliant man did what he did is no less than miraculous. This movie helps fill in the historical gaps of his life. Highly recommend.

Director Richard Attenborough passed away yesterday, so I thought it fitting to look up his movies. "Young Winston" is the early years in the life of Winston Churchill. It was Attenborough's second film and has been regarded very highly since its release in 1972. KCLS web site has never had a written comment on the movie. I would have liked to have read what other patrons felt about the movie. So I checked other film critic web sites and found it universally well regarded. These sites include Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB. That Richard Attenborough would pick out of the most influential politicians as a subject for a movie is no coincidence. He would later do the movie "Gandhi" and "Cry for Freedom" the story of South African leader Steven Biko. KCLS has 3 copies of this treasure of a movie and only 2 are checked out. A master director left us a fine tribute to a great man in Winston Churchill. I think you will enjoy the film.
