I don’t understand why this book has bad reviews, I’ve found it to be a great resource for understanding infant sleep needs and guiding baby towards healthy sleep habits while ensuring your baby is well fed. Since starting this routine our baby is more settled as he is well rested and getting used to a more predictable routine, and he is sleeping longer stretches at night in his crib. It is also easier to plan family outings and activities for my older son based on a predictable baby schedule. Overall I found it to be very helpful for meeting our baby’s and family’s needs and would recommend it to new parents.
This was a great GUIDE to assist me on how to get my baby healthy, happy and sleeping through the night by 12 weeks so I could get back to work at week 13!
It was difficult at first but I followed a schedule...yes I got looks from family for waking my sleeping child during the day for a schedule...but I also had the HAPPIEST and BEST baby on earth. So I don't regret following the advise given in this book.
DO NOT read this book. The practices in it are dangerous and can border on downright abuse. Here is a statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics warning parents that the methods in this book are associated with infant dehydration, failure the thrive.
Parents please do your research before beginning this program. It has been linked to breast milk supply failure, dehydration and failure to thrive in infants. Yes you will get your nighttime continuous sleep but at what cost to the physical and emotional well being of your child. Please speak with your doctor about what is suggested in this book before implementing it. Infants need to be feed when their hungry and cuddled in order to grow.
