"While helping a friend clean out an old apartment in Paris, French diplomat Jean-Yves Berthault discovers a leather attache case hidden under a pile of old jars and papers. The case contained a collection of handwritten letters. Upon reading the first one, Berthault realizes an extraordinary adventure lies at his fingertips. The letters are penned by the mysterious Simone, a well-to-do Parisian woman, and written to her younger, married lover Charles between 1928-1930. What unfolds is the tale of their affair--a chronicle of sexual awakening that grows into obsession."--Provided by publisher.

Well, well---Look what I found at the Burlingame Public Library... I'm glad the staff has not shunted this book off somewhere, never to be seen again. Kudos to the staff and the philosophy of the library...

This highly pornographic collection of letters found by a French diplomat, has been put into book form and published... I'm sure it is bigger seller in France than here, but BPL has a copy.

Letters consist of descriptions of the love making, S&M practices, and various sexual activities.

As the book goes on, one feels sorry for the woman(Simone); she is desperate to keep her lover (Charles)and will sink to any depth to retain him. I'm not judging her and her vices, just thinking how lonely and neurotic she must be.

But enough. read the book and the BPL has my respect for not burying this book.
