Hilarious; Heartwarming. The real Ms. Jenkins sang better than Meryl but you get the gist of the hilarity.

Story about a man who loves a woman, but also creates a separate life from her because her medical condition limits her. This is based on a true story of a wealthy woman and avid music lover who believes she is a virtuoso herself (when she's really not, although her heart is in the right place). Her husband and friends create a mirage around her, but will it hold? As always, Meryl Streep is a joy to watch.

We'll never know how much of the support Florence might have had in bringing her awful singing to the stage and recording studio was due to the love of her or the love of her wealth, but seeing and hearing Meryl singing so badly so very well ( and the costumes, oh, the terrible costumes) was such a delight that I suspect seeing and/or hearing the real Lady Florence was too.

I thought this movie would be lame but I really enjoyed it. I don't think I've laughed so hard for a while. You have to give Florence some credit for giving a performance at age 76 at Carnegie Hall. Which just goes to show you, either be very very good at something or be really really bad.

Uh. It left me jumbled, not undecided, no, I've got an opinion on this, though, I have to say, it's neither black or white. I have a problem with the fallacy, the placating, it's like holding up a false god. It's as rallying around a false promise. I found it deceitful. It shows you what money can buy. They did a great job in leaving one facing a dilemma, well, for this viewer it didn't come easy. You decide, one can probably see where I stand. See it to believe it.

Something seldom shown in movies these days - human beings' sweeter nature. A charming and sweet movie... and as usual - well done by Merle and the rest of the cast.

Somewhat funny but moves at a snail's pace. Mostly boring. I love Meryl Streep but this movie didn't hold my attention. Maybe I just missed the point of the movie.

I liked this movie more than I expected I would. It is based on an interesting and true story. I didn't find the comedy to be all that funny, but it was a good drama about music, love and the lengths people will go to protect and support a loved one. Hugh Grant and Simon Helberg give nice, understated performances that balance the strength and big personality of Streep's character. This isn't the first movie Stephen Frears has directed which celebrates music; I highly recommend his film High Fidelity. Florence Foster Jenkins is rated PG-13 for brief suggestive material.

lovely movie because I admire Meryl and Hugh! It is actually about someone who did what she loves despite all circumstances which was the strong point out of the movie, and it is also a love story. I recommend it if you like Meryl and Hugh , otherwise you will be annoyed by her singing.

(Money owned the media and public opinion then as today:)
Maestro, it is true that a lot of singers my age are on the decline, but I seem to just get better and better.
===
Mr Wilson, are you leaving already? She's only just started.
-I've heard enough. Thank you.
Oh, she just needed a little warming up, that's all. Listen to her.
-I have never seen such a pathetic, vainglorious display of egotism in my life. That you encouraged Mrs Jenkins to make a spectacle of herself is quite simply unforgivable.
-Will you be writing something?
Yes, and it will be the truth.
-Isn't the truth that a lot of hurt people are having some fun? Did you not notice?
Music is important. It should not be mocked.
===
Give the dame a break! She's singing her heart out.
-Yeah, and her heart sounds like a dyin' cat!

(Britprincess is right to pick this quote as the best:)
Was everyone laughing at me the whole time?
-I was never laughing at you. Yours is the truest voice I have ever heard.
...
No, I could never never sing again. Except to you. People may say I couldn't sing, but no one can say I didn't sing.
===
Your voice was as fresh as the morning dew till the very last, Florence.
===
You're nothing but a jumped-up hack. Name your price, Wilson. What is it? 100? Is it 200? $300, that's my final offer.
- You're insane.
500. .... Listen! Listen to them, hack! " sings "Queen of the Night" (out of tune) Figlia mia non ... (sings coloratura, out of tune) ... (sings coloratura sustained out-of-tune, high note) ...
