Follows the exploits of rebel pilot Norra Wexley and her team of Imperial hunters as they navigate the destruction of the Empire and the birth of the New Republic.
The Battle of Endor shattered the Empire, scattering its remaining forces across the galaxy. But the months following the Rebellion's victory have not been easy. The fledgling New Republic has suffered a devastating attack from the Imperial remnant, forcing the new democracy to escalate their hunt for the hidden enemy. For her role in the deadly ambush, Grand Admiral Rae Sloane is the most wanted Imperial war criminal -- and one-time rebel pilot Norra Wexley, back in service at Leia's urgent request, is leading the hunt. But more than just loyalty to the New Republic drives Norra forward: Her husband was turned into a murderous pawn in Sloane's assassination plot, and now she wants vengeance as much as justice. But Sloane, too, is on a furious quest: pursuing the treacherous Gallius Rax to the barren planet Jakku. As the true mastermind behind the Empire's devastating attack, Rax has led the Empire to its defining moment. The cunning strategist has gathered the powerful remnants of the Empire's war machine, preparing to execute the late Emperor Palpatine's final plan. As the Imperial fleet orbits Jakku, an armada of Republic fighters closes in to finish what began at Endor. Norra and her crew soar into the heart of an apocalyptic clash that will leave land and sky alike scorched. And the future of the galaxy will finally be decided.

This book is so bad that I'm not even going to make myself finish it- a mistake I made with the previous two Star Wars Aftermath books by Chuck Wendig. I'm just going to return it ASAP so that someone on the waiting list can have their chance to read it.

Having read at least 50 of the EU books, I can say there were a few stinkers in there maybe about one in ten weren't very good. I am shocked though just how bad the new Star Wars books are after the Disney takeover and canon wipe. I've read all of them (about 11?) and probably 7 or 8 are just terrible. Chuck Wendig's books here have to go front and center though, as among the worst written books I've ever read, yet Aftermath is currently the flagship title for all Star Wars books!

I'll keep it spoiler free, but here are my chief complaints about all 3 Aftermath books: bad writing, a failure to capture the vibe and ambience of the Star Wars universe, a social justice warrior vibe & real life politics repeatedly thrown in the readers face. Yuck, I swear never to read anything by this author ever again.

Really good story. Kept me hooked the whole way through. Would definitely recommend this and Life Debt to other readers. Aftermath 1 is harder to read and get into, but is necessary for understanding the second two.
