I thought this story was very boring... loaned it twice from library and it never improved.
Story is a 'wanna be' and scenes are similar from other movies, with a weak storyline trying to thread them together.
If you're thinking 'similar to The Omen' type movie, then forget this waste of time, I think it way misses the promise.

Good movie. I like it. "Origin of Evil" indeed. First the spirits were good, then they turn evil. The family should have said their goodbyes. Shake my head, neglectful family.

I haven't watched the sequel that this movie is based on, so I cannot comment on how the two movies segue, but as a stand-alone, this movie was extremely satisfying. I also cannot comment on all of the scares, as some of the movie was watched through my fingers. This movie does not deal as much in the 'jump-scare' as it does with the creepy looking things in the background of a shot, which is so much more satisfying. A definite watch if you enjoy psychological terror.

This movie was actually very enjoyable even if the special effects were a little cringe-worthy because the story was interesting and there was an awesome twist to everything!

A lot of times the best scary movies always seem to involve a scary little girl. The Exorcist, Poltergeist, The Ring, Conjuring 2. Now, the tradition continues with this movie. Definitely, the right elements for a horror film: dark atmosphere, a family of 3 young women, and, of course, a Ouija board. The little girl can hold her own if there ever was an evil possession category in some horror awards show.

Don't let the previous "Ouija" film put you off - "Ouija: Origin of Evil" is a much better film, and you don't need to see the other movie for this one to make sense. Great 1960s visuals from the title credits onward, and the lead child actor is exceptional. A few jump-scares, but it's the atmosphere that makes this movie truly creepy.

A recently widowed mother of two, little Doris and teenage Lena, struggles to make ends meet when there is no life insurance. She sets up a scam fortune teller business complete with rigged table and her daughters doing the lights and sounds. But problems arise when the house is foreclosed upon and they become more desperate for money. Little Doris turns to the Ouija board to ask her father for help. Only he isn't the one who answers, and the spirit who does is from WWII Nazi Germany who came to live in the house after WWII where he committed unspeakable acts on others in the basement. Add a kind priest and a teenage boyfriend and you have the perfect ghost story. Much better than the others in the "Ouija" series. We screamed twice.

The 3 rules: Never play alone. Never play in a graveyard. Always say goodbye.
"As friends we've gathered, hearts are true, spirits near, we call to you."

FYI: Much of this is based on actual pagan magick. Just remember, close the circle before you begin and disseminate spirits before you open again. A circle of salt around you doesn't hurt either.

This is also a fun movie to watch to see what it was like in the 60s. Music, hair, food, slang, everything.
