I love a book that is intelligent enough to keep the interest of adults and intriguing enough to keep the interest of the intended younger market. I enjoyed the development of friendships including building trust and helping each other be the best that they can be. I would recommend this to fans of YA and younger readers.

This book had a totally different meaning of magic. I loved it.

So. I think the concept for this book is super intriguing – it’s always refreshing to me to find a kids’ fantasy that has a new and interesting take on a magical world, which this absolutely does. But – this book is… complicated. It feels overstuffed. It somehow feels like three different books happening at once, even. When I got to the end and realized it was only ~350 pages, I was sincerely astonished, because it feels longer than that, simply because of the various plot threads that are introduced. It’s well-written, it’s got cool world-building, it’s wildly imaginative... potential readers will need to be patient, though – and pay attention!
