I enjoyed this series more for the back story on Tennison, less for its storytelling. It was well styled, scored and filmed. But ultimately not terrifically engaging. I love the Prime Suspect series, but hoped this prequel would really shine on its own.

Felt like they were trying to do a 70s version of Life on Mars with regard to setting. Life on Mars was great - this one had terrible storyline and acting. Great music selection but too loud so lyrics interfered.

Enjoyable series on the way back machine. Agree with another reviewer about the loudness of the music although I enjoyed the tunes since I lived through that era. Looking forward to the following set of DVDs.

Not really up to Prime Suspect quality, but engaging nonetheless. Newcomer Stefani Martini does well with the unenviable task of stepping into the role Helen Mirren created. Veterans Alun Armstrong and Ruth Sheen are superb as the patriarch/matriarch of a criminal family.

I loved the 70s rock tunes as reinforcement to the period

Not the best of British cop film, but certainly watchable. Good writing and acting and well
cast. I did feel the incidental music was a bit much; music is great for setting the scene
or mood; this was all rock music, very loud, with vocalists, yelling their guts out, apparently with the idea of drowning out the actors. Luckily, this was not done through out the series, but was enough to be annoying.
