As with all Shakespeare plays, they should really be seen rather than read, and Macbeth is no exception. And with all the directions a production can go for visually accomplishing the magic and bloody murder it's worth seeing multiple times. Macbeth is my favorite of the tragedies, partially because it has multiple interesting roles for women, but also because it is the shortest of Shakespeare's tragedies, easily performed without cuts in one act. And after sitting through 4.5 hours of Hamlet that is a definite selling point.
