I absolutely love this charming, straightforward documentary, and I put it into the hands of friends whenever I can. It's a loving look at the shopowners on one street in the 14th arrondisment of Paris, filmed in 1975 (with a bonus feature filmed in 2005 about the same small street and some of the new/old shopkeepers.) Varda is just a master documentarian - you might also want to check out her more political The Gleaners and I. Wonderful work. If you're headed for Paris, this is a lovely way to prepare - many things change, but some things never do. Varda loves people and loves Paris - as this film shows.
