Interesting historical drama about the first female policewoman in Midlands England during the 1950's. Characters are drawn with a broad brush, and uses every possible stereotype against women. I also found the 50's soundtrack distracting. It's obviously there to lend credence to the drama's setting in the 1950's, but I think detracts from the action and mood, which I found quite depressing due in large part to the prejudice against WPC Dawson. The music just doesn't match the tone. Dawson overcomes her parents' disappointment, her colleagues' biases, and her boyfriend's inattention, and of course solves the big case, so I guess all is well.
