Michael Giacchino strikes gold again with his compelling score for Disney's latest animated film. What I love about Zootopia's score is how each track is as sonically diverse as the animal populous of the city itself. As a result, the album is never boring and features tracks that span a wide variety of musical traditions. Yet, there are plenty of small thematic threads that tie the entire score together so it sounds like a singular body of work. Giacchino has composed the type of music that makes you feel elated when you get to the final song, and it will inspire you to get up and dance (especially with the title track "Try Everything" performed by Shakira). My favorite track would have to be "Mr. Big," and any Godfather aficionado will appreciate his nods to Nito Rona's famous cues. It is a fantastic soundtrack that is a must listen for 2016.
