Walking to Listen

4,000 Miles Across America, One Story at a Time
May 08, 2017Yavin rated this title 3.5 out of 5 stars
An interesting journey. Similar to Peter Jenkins "A Walk Across America/The Walk West", Walking to Listen follows a twenty-three-year-old who, suffering the effects of a divorce and wondering what it means to "Come of Age" decides to walk across America listening to people's stories. The walk and the people are interesting but the problem with this book is that it seems more about philosophy the author's inner struggles at times. If you're into that and/or enjoy poetry such as Walt Whitman, then this book is probably for you. Otherwise, while a good read, it doesn't seem to live up the potential quite as much as Jenkins work does.
