50 years ago this week - Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band on June 2, 1967. A Day In The Life, over 5 and a half minutes long, is often cited as the best Beatles hit ever, and certainly in everyone's top ten list. And then, how often have we sang When I'm Sixty-Four to those elders who actually turned 64 or hummed Lovely Rita to those lovely Ritas we came across? ... And talk about INSANE lyrics as "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds:" Picture yourself in a boat on a river/ With tangerine trees and marmalade skies/ Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly/ A girl with kaleidoscope eyes/ Cellophane flowers of yellow and green/ Towering over your head/ Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes/ And she's gone/ ... Noted that someone had posted the Lucy videos already. So, added the "A Day In The Life."
