Watched the film without knowing anything more about the film other than the description. Found the characters very unlikable, the split-screen trick annoying and the plot uninteresting until the last 30 minutes. So, looked around to see why it garnered such high acclaim and found in wiki that “Richard Gere was praised by both Variety and The Guardian for his "strong performance" portraying a "Court Jew" archetype.” Okay, that explained the strange characters in high finance but the rest of the film is monotonous and uninspiring.
