I have not see the earlier animated movies and tv versions (1995 - 2015), based on the 1989 manga comic, written by Shirow Masamune, 'Mobile Armored Riot Police: Ghost in the Shell.' I did like this film as an interesting topic of cyborg (part human, part robotic or "enhanced") law enforcement officers. There are similarities in story and in visual effects of two primary films that I can think of, the 1985 Blade Runner and the 1987 Robocop. I think the primarily stone faced, Scarlett Johansson (Lucy, 2014; 2016's Captain America: Civil War;and Sing - voice; Avengers: Infinity War, 2018) fits this film well, with a hint of some emotion, as one should with a human brain inside a robotic body. This is perhaps my complaint of the film, is that the film could have been better with more emotional conflict displayed on screen, which suggests a lack of acting by Scarlett. No bonus material on the DVD.
